The shapes created were very complex twisting and turning back on themselves.

In order to do further analysis we needed to define a single volume.

These were some early attempts.  While they look intriguing they have no analytical merit.

We are now looking at slicing the shape into slices and lofting between the perimeter of the cross-section

Here are some of the surfaces created using the method I have previously described to follow the movement of a figure in space.

In collaboration with GSA department of architecture I have been investigating the space trail we leave when we navigate a space as a   pilot study.  Robert and Jo filmed themselves in a mocked –up kitchen space and filmed this from 3 angles over the space of 9 minutes.  I took the resultant videos and reproduced kitchen setup and camera angle in maya. I created rigged figures and copied their movement creating key frames every 1 second.  I created animation snapshot from the figure’s outline and lofted to create a 3d surface.
